romaincampagna.it
Just outside Rome there is a charming world, rich in tastes and scents, waiting to be explored in a simple and direct way through romaincampagna.it. This is the portal wanted by the Rome Chamber of Commerce and created by the Azienda Romana Mercati, the special firm of the Chamber of Commerce for the Development of the Food and Agriculture Sector. The portal aims to give tourists some guidance on how to access the many products and services of the farms and agriturismi of the Roman countryside. Here you will find specific theme itineraries, educational farms, typical products and traditional recipes to satisfy the most fastidious gourmets and travellers in matters of trips, journeys, and the food and agriculture sector. All the farms which are described here, and the range of products presented, have taken part in the development and enhancement programmes organised and run by the Chamber of Commerce to improve the qualitative growth of the business and production network of the Rome province. The blue bow, traditionally pinned on champions' chests, represents the commitment and attention which all the actors in this sector pledge to citizens. So, now we can start along the path to discover this territory through four separate sections which offer different information to visitors travelling through the countryside; these include the wine, oil and typical products routes, the farms and agriturismi and the unpolluted parks and reserves. Another section is that dedicated to Roman eating, which includes typical products and useful information on their characteristics, on the season they’re ripe in, and on where you can buy them directly from producers (in farms or in local markets) and… to top it all up, Roman cuisine recipes to taste the products in their traditional form.
As it is never too early to form a careful and conscientious consumer, there is also a section dedicated to children (and not only to them): learning in the countryside, which includes information on educational farms and the ABC of the Roman countryside. Finally, to complete this picture, there is a section on what kind of trips the Roman countryside offers: on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, as well as a calendar with the recommended events. Naturally, we'll keep an eye on the weather too so as to be sure to find sunny skies! So, what are you waiting for? Have a pleasant journey!
