Monte Mario Natural Reserve

The Reserve, extended on 204 hectares, protects a proper mosaic of biological diversity, rare in Rome by now. Lower areas are rich of Mediterranean vegetation. Instead, higher areas include mountain plants. They are populated by native wildlife, although disturbed by the pressing urbanization. The area is inestimable for Rome. We can add to it the historical villas Mazzanti and Mellini, headquarter of the Observatory in 1923.
